Interesting read, Andrew and myself were the only kiters out, I thought we stayed clear, however I sometimes will hold my upwind heading if I feel we will pass safely, kite up to 12 o'clock, i was under the impression that this was ok.

I and all the other kiters respect all other water users, however I can fully understand the concern of everyone on the water with inexperienced users especially kiters !!

Best everyone respect the rules and other users, especially when room on the water is tight, and we should be prepared to speak up if required.

Hi guys,
I've posted a reply on the windsurfing forum explaining the safety rules that we adhere to and I also know both kiters who were out there wouldn't have intentionally set out to hinder windsurfers.

A friendly reminder for all kiters using the pond (cremorne lagoon) to give windsurfers and other users a wide berth - if you do have to pass upwind, keep your kite high and allow adequate room. Importantly, when boosting allow 40-50m of clear downwind space and don't boost upwind and close to a windsurfer. If you see another kiter not allowing adequate room or a beginner about to barrel through the main sailing area pls call them on it. The windsurfers are a great bunch.
