Very close to Cape Conran is Marlo, went there last week and had a blast, flat water and good wind! Its quite a large inlet, and the river mouth for the Snowy river.I think it works anywhere from SW-SE, the tides will affect how much beach u have to launch, as there was only really enough room for a couple kites with lines rolled out when we were there. Otherwise, one of the nicest flat water spots!

Gday Bertie

There is a decent group of Kiterers at Bairnsdale.
We favour local lake spots at Eagle point and Tambo Bay, but Marlo is great, access and launch from Old Seat track.
Red Bluff is apparently kited a bit??

How long are you around for?

And check Gippsland Kiteboarders on Facebook.

Well actually i'm living out this way now, i should change my info thing on SB. (based in Nowa Nowa but working in Bairnsdale)
I'm not so much into flatwater but could be tempted for the fitness and social aspect.
normally i ride a surfboard strapless.

I get the feeling the bluff gets some weird wind shadows and the launch areas could be sketchy. I like the look of the Lake Tyers mouth better.

The water has been a bit too cold for me over winter and I haven't been able to suss out tides and winds very well lately. But now its a bit warmer i'm pretty keen to get out.

Well these two links have made life much easier.
not having a live wind feed like i'm used to has made things hard lately living inland and away from the coast that seams to get very localised winds.

now if only seabreeze could tap into the live wind feed???? hey Laurie!!!!
