I go there often, we have a holiday house. Not many kiters but still some ok spots.

Main town beach is good for flat water on an easterly (prevailing wind) as the groyne keeps the water nice and flat, don't go too far downwind as there is a big shallow sharp reef section near the shore between the groyne and the point.

Masons bay to the east is good for a day/arvo trip, big shallowish bay with plenty of flat water in most wind directions.

Not too many good wave spots though, not that i've ever kited anyway.

Flatwater lagoon sounds good. Am moving to Esperance in january 2011, I kite and like the waves. However the wife also kites and likes safe lagoons to kite in, so may explore more over hopetoun way. Have kited in the ocean in front of the caravan park just west of the groyne on a SE wind fairly flat only slight chop. Some of the beaches in FG national park have pretty good swell and kiting potential.
