Respectful greetings all!

Lucky enough to be staying most of this coming December in Anglesea :-) Never kited in Vic before as i have been living abroad for the past 10+ years.

Super keen to try out the old spots that i used to windsurf at as a kid.

Was hoping for some suggestions on kite sizes to bring , i only ride strapless and weigh 70 kg .... What stoke that can be expected for December? What are the conditions like? Would be keen to go to spots where there is a small sort of crew .... Suggestions on quiver and locations will be hugely appreciated :-)

Will be Melbourne for a bit as well but think will do most of kiting in Angle and Torquay area.

Thanks so much in advance and safe kiting.

G'day Whazup,

December is a good time of year to be kiting around Anglesea.

Many of the kiters in the area spend most of their time on either an 11-12m kite for the regular Southerly seabreeze that rolls through that time of year (15-20kts+), or a 9m for when SW fronts roll through or for those gusty hot/dry N days that are generally associated with the bushfire season.

I ride a TT and am occasionally blown out and left wishing I had a 7m, but those days are pretty rare.

Check this blog developed by a conscientious local kiter for information on some of the local spots. www.peterskiteboarding.com/p/melbourne-kitesurfing.html

There are others around the Anglesea area that aren't marked on the map. If you ride a surf board and like the waves you have HEAPS of options!

If a S or SE is blowing there will always be a small crew at Pt Danger in Torquay (unless the tide is high when the launch/landing area is completely underwater). Kiters in the area are a very friendly bunch.

Have a great stay in Anglesea, mate.

from 2pm the seabreeze will kick in. on a surfboard and 70 K you will need a 8 or 9 most of the time. Lost of places to kite. When you are in town, send me a PM (Private message) and I will organize a session on the weekend. cheers

Super excellent advice, Garrat and Castill, - Thanks heaps for your prompt feedback!! I will pack the 9m and 12 m and leave the 14m at home. Can't wait to get a good honest dose of Victorian coast into me and meeting some of the local crew in the area. I will send you a PM Castill for sure.
Kite safe everyone
