Hi,
I am trying to expand on my kiting quiver and cant decide whether i should get the smaller kite first or the bigger kite first. From recommendations from schools and other people i should get a 11m as the bigger kite and a 7m as the smaller kite but unfortunately i cant afford both at the same time.
Would it be more beneficial to get the smaller kite first or the bigger one first?
I am 65kg and ride a 132cm board and am a intermediate rider trying to get into freestyle and at the moment have a 9m.
I mainly kite at st kilda but when there are northerlies i sometimes travel to Brighton
Thanks
Jeremy

I would go 9 and 11, so keep the 9m. An 11m is also easier to learn tricks as they arent as twitchy.
Also depends on what types of kites they are?

You can pick up 7m kites alot cheaper as well.

Great freestyle kite but i think you mean 7 and 11? they didnt come in a 10m.
What do you have in the 9m?

If you need any advise drop by, we have a demo day this sat with all the Liquid Force gear so you can compare that to the Vice as well.

Yeah sorry 11m
Um I have a 9m 2009 cab crossbow 3 which gets me up and riding in about 16 knots or so.. That's why I was sort of leaning towards the 7m because I am a smaller rider and quite often find myself riding overpowered.

You want to cover 15-25knots really but i get out alot on a 15m in sub 15knots.
Anything above and bellow is a bonus.

If you can drop by the shop. If you are already getting out in 16 knots thats great but freestyle you need a kite that goes slack after you pop. The new SB do it but by the sounds of it you have a budjet so wont want a new SB.

I would sell the SB and get 2 C's.

So are you saying I should sell my 9m and replace it with the 7m and 11m?

I suggest you keep your 9 and get an 11. You will use the larger kite a lot more than a smaller one.

I have used my larger kite (12) many times during a season, any my smaller kite (7) very few times.

Its much more common to have light winds here (10-15 knots) rather than stronger ones (25+)

I say buy smaller kite.

If you are already getting out in 16kts - you arent going to get much better than that. Presumably you are overpowered by low 20kts - hence buying 11m wont help in that situation.

You will probably find that a smaller kite will become your new regular kite. I am powered on my 7m from about 23 kts - and you are quite a bit smaller than I am.

I also say buy a smaller kite... Kiting is most fun when it's over 20knots (25-30 is ideal for big boost. Its much easier to sit on the beach and watch people mow the lawn in sub 15knots than it is to be sitting on the beach when everyone else is boosting in 20+.
