Ive allways wanted to kitesurf and today i bought a used kite and board, its a 12 metre ocean rodeo bronco with bag, pump, harness, handle and lines $500 the board has the names airush and stonker on it, all looks in excellent condition.

The guy i got it off bought it 5 years ago and never took it out the bag.

Ok im brand new to this never used a kite in me life lol lessons are probably the go im guessing, i live in mornington so who does good lessons? and is the stuff i bough any good? ive read some revies and they all say its ok.

Cheers Steve

1. go to www.youtube.com search >How to Kiteboard<

2. With your new profound knowledge and skill head down to your local beach set up a video camera on a tripod.

3. Attempt to set up kite and self lunch.

4. Once recovered from hospital view footage and post on youtube for our viewing pleasure :)

Now If you want to if you want to learn properly I suggest you get some proper lessons form http://peninsulakiteboarding.com.au/ or so... they will steer you in the right direction... and after a few lessons of using there gear, they maybe able to advise you on the gear you have... and if you're really keen to keep it maybe even teach you how to use it... alternatively (much more recommended) once you complete your lessons buy some proper more modern equipment... as it does make a difference.

Have fun! You'll be addicted in no time! And if you invest once in proper gear you won't have to worry about it later on ;)

Rodeo Bronco - good in its day, BUT things have moved on significantly since then.

You will still be able to learn on this kite - but your learning curve wont be as steep if you had some new-er gear. Even from the last couple of years.

Bloke did pretty well selling that for 5 hunge. Maybe I will chuck some of my old gear up on flea bay.

LESSONS - definitely a must.

you win some you loose some, ive got some good bargains lately so cant complain to much if i didnt this time lol, at least it will get me out on the water on windy days (I do kayak and boat fishing) and serves me right for not researching more.
Must admit im looking forward to learning even if it does provide entertainment for onlookers lol.

thanks for your advice so far guys, lets see if an old dog can learn new tricks

Give Trent a call 0413 835 345 or peninsularkiteboarding.com.au he will get you up and going in no time. $500 is not much to get you up and going and if you like the sport you can upgrade to some better gear. Look for gear from 2010 on wards, better in built safety systems or talk to the local kiters at Rosebud, Rye or Balnarring, no shortage of guys to give you advice.

Most importantly have a few lessons not only for your safety but for ours, other beach goers and the sport of Kite boarding. see ya out there

$500 is OK for starters. Definitely get lessons - and get advice from the instructor about your kite (tips and traps etc). You will crash the kite, and might end up ripping it (if unlucky). Better to trash an older kite than a nice new one, but then older ones are more likely to rip - particularly if used and exposed to UV.

Also, have a road of of kitesurfing-handbook.peterskiteboarding.com/ + several good articles here on Seabreeze.
