I swear there was a seabreeze on... i think Thursday.
Looks like a promising sign for a good season... now no one buy a new kite or board and curse it!

Whats the chance of that? Slingshot, Cabrinha, Naish and Liquid Force have all just bought out 2011 models. No doubt there will be a bunch of selfish c88ts who will buy them not realising they are screwing everyone else's chance of a decent kiting season.

Happy to say I christened my new board a couple of weeks ago in rainy frontal poop to avoid any offense to the seabreeze deities. (Had Altona to myself, with the beach freshly widened.) Kites still crusty and old to keep them happy (though I did check my lines and spray some silicone on the pulleys, touch wood).

Silicone on the pulleys - I haven't heard of that before. Whats the story - does that free them up a bit does it ? Where do you get it from ?

Just regular silicone spray, in an aerosol can, about $12 at the hardware store. A little spray on pulleys and zips works a treat. The pulleys on my aged and withering 08 switchblade seem as good as new. Maybe a little spray every ten or fifteen sessions, whenever they feel less than free.

I also use it on my pump. Wipe off the shaft and the barrel with a rag and a light silicone spray and you'll pump up so much easier. I service my pump a few times each season and still going strong.

Current can of silicone is about two years old and I reckon I've used maybe a quarter of it.

Look after your gear and it will look after you.

( I realise this post contains words such as shaft, pump, and service. Sorry to any kids who may have clicked here accidentally.)

i looked after my gear...

...and it dragged my halfway the length of Anderson Inlet (50% underwater / 50% 4 foot above the water) in a killer death loop due to my lines having gotten tangled up on the end of my bar after a failed kiteloop. the half a second of vaulting airtime was not enough to reach the safety, nor was the half a second of power drowning. fun times they were those days.

Look after your gear and it might look after you
