Just a heads up for the people that kite at Brighton...

Recently there has been a guy swimming at Brighton about 50m offshore at the rock groyne at the north end of the kite section of beach. I've seen him out swimming about 4 times in the last month or so, and on days where there were no other swimmers because it was too cold.
As a result it is easy for us to not even realise that he is there. So just be careful and have a look around.

Cheers

Just remember that when there is a swimmer in the kite designated area the 5 knot rule kicks back in!!!!

The area is designated as a "kiteboard operating area" not a kiteboard exclusive area". Above comments are spot-on.

Heard that there are now talks with Vic Windsurf and PV about "sharing" some sailing areas - good move for all.

We are fortunate enough to be tolerated at Brighton by Bayside Council & locals despite a number of incidents over he past years mainly involving the public at Brighton. It does happen but please lets be careful and sensible out there.

On the other side there are some big-hearted and concerned local kiters who have been observing assisting the newer kiters and also chattig to locals including the BLSC staff... Big Kudos to these guys & girls.

I came across a couple of people swimming 200m offshore at Brighton a couple of months ago. They were out between the groyne and the baths. They had no wetsuits and it was cold. Quite hard to spot until you see an arm come up.

If you see one, there could be another. Its essential to have a very good look where you are going, and abide by the 50m clearance + 5 knot rules.
