i'm dennis 20 years old, from holland. in november i'm going to australia close to st kilda. i bring my kitestuff with me. maybe there are any guys to answer a few of my questions.
are there any shops around st kilda they sell slingshotstuff?
what winddirections are good for kiting in st kilda?
are there any rules at the spot of st kilda?
what are the best months for kiting and how many times a week is that?
st kilda is a good spot (i read on the forum) but sometimes its a bit busy. are there any differents between the other kitespots (brighton) like winddirections rules etc.
all other tips are also welcome offcourse

Yes - Kite Republic stock Slingshot
Southerly winds tend to be the best IMO
Not too sure about rules, but i think its more common sense (Don't have your kite hanging over the road)
and finally, Summer is the best time to kite - November - Late February...

1. Yep, as has been said Kite Republic do Slingshot gear. Their shop is in Port Melbourne.
2. Prevailing seabreeze is a SW'er, which is also the best direction for St Kilda. It does work on everything from a Southerly round to a WNW (if you don't mind gusts!).
3. Don't kite within 100m of the pier at the southerly end. Don't kite in the school / launch & land zone. Try to avoid kiting through the middle of the boat moorings. No beach jumping. Be friendly and take advice - we're only trying to keep our beaches open.
4. Best time to kite is whilst our seabreezes are on. They've just started in the last week or so and they'll be on till about February/March. Should be able to kite atleast 4-5 days a week.
5. Other spots close by include Brighton (anything from N,NW,W,SW,S) or Hampton (NW,W,SW,S).
Other hints and tips: Be friendly, offer to launch and land kites, don't crowd other riders or tailgate, avoid kiters that look inexperienced - they almost definitely are, and finally... please don't show off close to the beach. We want to keep our beaches open for kitesurfing and don't want anyone (local or from out of town) putting our beach use in danger.

Buy a shorty when you get here.......... or just a wetsuit top.
You will be able to get away with that for the summer months and a bit ..... nov, dec, jan, feb march
Water temp is currently about 15.4 deg celcius but it will get warmer over the coming months. ( up to about 23-24deg during late feb)
Last night I kited in a wetsuit top and boardshorts and was not cold whilst actually kiting, although I was when packing up.
