Once the authorities decide on the areas you can and cant kite I dont see how they can police it. Sometimes there are 50+ kites at St kilda. Maybe when your launching or dropping a kite on the beach they will get the chance to approach you but once your on the water it will be near impossible. If they are waiting on the beach simply travel down wind to a clear section of beach and pack up there. Any thoughts out there of how the policing will work?

Regarding the Altona area as was advised on the KBV Website and in earlier advice to Members, the Proposed Amendments to Community Local Laws are noted at the following website.

http://www.hobsonsbay.vic.gov.au/Page/Page.asp?Page_Id=4430&h=-1

We suggest all kiters provide their comments. KBV are presently finalising a submission based on kiter input.

It would appear that Local Laws Officers will be empowered to administer the new laws for activities on the beach which is similar to other powers they already have.

KBV attempts to collaborate with local authorities and reach satisfactory compromises - an example of this is the submission to the Hobsons Bay council recently posted on the KBV site - worth a look - very impressive submission...
