How is the scene over there? I saw there's not any cable parks or am I wrong? I did see there's a 2.0 system that should be open by summer not far away. Tryin to figure out what boards to bring when I come down that way.

Cable Park has closed down: www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Kitesurfing/Victoria/Melb-cable-park-closed-down-for-good/

The bay (St Kilda) is fairly rubbish to wake board on. You do get a few doing it, but you usually need to do an early sesh to avoid any wind (although there are some parts of the year where it can be still all day long). The crew I (occasionally) ride with tend to do either weekends away to a river. Or day trips to Lake Eildon (or we'll spend a few nights there on a house boat).

Sucks the cable park is down. Glad to hear theres some other kiters that wake out there. Tenno been kiting since 2004, I wakeboard when theres no wind. Just trying to get a feel for the area.

Could always plan on some snow kiting or snowboarding. This year's snow season could be good.

still plenty of places to wake though... but each are 1hour plus away from melb

Nagambie ( river section the lake gets too choppy )
Narracan
Hazlewood ( mmm warm water nice in winter )

amongst others

But I agree with DANEgerous a weekend houseboat at Lake Eildon is the best way to get the max water time and its heaps of fun. we just let our hired houseboat drift for hours on end in the middle of the lake ( someone was always on board either cooking the BBQ on the roof or putting more ice in the esky..... the lake is pretty cold so summer months are obviously preferable. good and cheap weekend away.
