Really, yeah only surfed it a few times years ago and it was ok.
I'm now living up this way so just looking for spots.
If we get some good wind and swell I still might check it out.

Hey Gazuki,

I live close by and I hate it but I usually drive to Mulla's or go to Trigg for Downwinders. Maybe one day I can join you that way if you get eaten by a shark someone will know.

Like tightlines says 'its choppy' but once you get used to it its that that bad

I only went out a handful of times last season around Shorehaven, normally travel to Pinna's
This year I have decided I need to wear by big boy boardies and just get out around Alkimos
Why drive for 30/40 mins when you have okayish waters 5 mins away?

If you like down winders try Edan beach down to Shorehaven, its a good run
No one to avoid, more importantly no one to complain

I have heard that its quite flat in front of the rocks off Edan beach?
Not been that far out yet, but that is on my to do list this year

When I say it's choppy and not that good I mean the actual Alkimos break a couple of Ks offshore.
It always seems choppy out there but also in along the Shore.
The break Alkimos can get very shallow on the inside of the left at low tide and is not the place you want to be body dragging after your board.
There is actually a couple of decent spots on the outer reef North (and South) of there though so it is worth a look if you live up that way.

The reef is super shallow and full of caves and holes.
The left is good but can close out on almost dry reef toward the end, you need to pull off early do not be tempted to get that last turn.
The right can work on a big swell and runs into deeper water so is probably the safer bet .
Its a long way offshore and one of the sharkier spots. Check all of your gear before riding and ride conservatively its not the best place to have to swim in from.

Yeah im not too worried about the shark thing, as a surfer I would bob around out there for hours.

Sounds like threes a few of us that are keen. I'm be sure to flick it on here the next time im back and heading out (A week Wednesday). Ill try to give a fair bit of notice as well.

Thanks all for your reply's and advise, appreciated.

I really wanted to kite that alkimos wreck once..2yrs ago i think...then i watched a doco on it being haunted made by some french (?) Swimmer...herbert...someone ? Then when i was near there ..two rocks somewhere..a hose went on my 4wd...ended up having diesel in the radiator somehow and loosing 4500ish dollars.....
Then..
I ended up having a fling with a local columbian lady...
Then... two weeks later i found out she had had a car crash with her son in the car and passed on ..v sadly..remembered her well..and first funeral i went to for decades..
Needless to say i never got to kite around alkimos
I wish u luck and love to hear the positive stories

i kited there couple weeks back, was average at best, onshore and choppy. was decent swell around and waves werent that big or good.
upwind from shorehaven where the reef and little island/rock is, was prob best. just gotta pop off before dry reef.
straight out were some big lefts and rights but inconsistant and fat n yeh average.
maybe some other time ill try.
not sure where people surf/sup it, no-where seemed that good to paddle in?
