Sunday 5.2.17 was one of those beautiful days that makes you glad to be alive, and so lucky to be able to kite downwind along the Perth Coast with friends. 20kn+ winds, sunny day, a cruisy Sunday afternoon downwinder session. It doesn't get much better.

So to the at least half dozen douche bags I saw from City to Trigg, zipping through groups of swimmers near the shore: grab a brain as obviously yours is not working properly. I've kited in a few different places around the world, and Perth is still lucky enough to have literally oceans of space for everyone to enjoy. So use it intelligently.

Stop being a selfish jerk and endangering the safety of other beach users.
You're not a kiting hero. You're not on the best wave ever. There is no photographer frothing to get your picture.
You're simply an amateur douche bag, and it shows.

If this behaviour continues, piece by piece, areas of the coast will be banned to kiting and epic downwinders will become a thing of the past. Do you really want that to happen douche-bag?

When approaching other beach users, how about just briefly tacking offshore, giving swimmers/surfers some space, and then looping back in to continue the ride? How about behaving like a reasonable human being for just a few seconds of your life?

Nathe, It's pretty damn difficult to get your point across on the water in 20+ knot winds. Every time I get to the beach, I look for the kites I've seen, to no avail. I will continue to try and speak to people in person. But as you know, there's a freeway of kiters on the water these days and rarely the ability to identify and speak to them on the beach.

Mate, kiters first swimmers second. Why should we give them priority? We are clearly the better breed! They ought to be taking pictures of me, not getting in my way.

You can only ski in a gazetted ski area and only between times allowed for that area.

As of October 1 2013 new speed restrictions and other changes have been introduced at increasingly busy parts of the Swan Canning Riverpark to improve safety for all water users.

A person shall not use any navigable waters for the purpose of a slalom course or ski-jump unless prior approval in writing has been obtained from the Department of Transport.
