Yes, the intention is for the local working groups to include "CLEAR" on the signs as well as:

• points for the general public (see listed below)


• waksa website (when established - possibly within next 2 weeks)


• kite graphic to get people's attention

Hopefully schools, instructors and shops will teach "CLEAR" to their students/ customers as well.

Much more detail incl maps, right of way rules, hazards, suitable wind directions, etc will be included in each local site guide flyer.

The PUBLIC points on the signs are something like:

• Please remain behind (upwind) of kite surfers


• Don't try to catch the lines or bar of a released kite


• Please watch for kites, lines and other equipment


• Kite lines can be up to 40m long - be aware of kite and rider


• Please don't try to learn by yourself - contact a Kite Surf School

I am very a safety concious Kiter.
I read all of your inputs and suggestions, HOWEVER.
The weather system we will have from now till October is predominantly westerly.
Does this mean that Cottesloe is not an AKSS reccomended site for kiting?
Is there a new walkway being constructed out into the ocean to allow other members of the public to walk drive by safely upwind?

I know I'm being stupid here but seriously I reckon you are pissing into the wind trying to get all kiters to comply, particularly when the wind direction is gainst the rules in the first place.

How many days in winter is there a light W/SW which makes for great fun on the beach at cott, but is also very dangerous in terms of kitee and the beach/road users?

I think AKSA should stop faffing around and impose a ban immediately on Kiting in the area and reccomend a safer spot (public in mind) like Cables.

It sucks but it is reality.

Maybe if a few crew were to ride there it would encourage others to follow, after all isn't that the reason why 20+ kites ride in tiny spot anyway.
I know what I mean.... Do you?

Yes it was agreed to change it at the WAKSA commitee meeting. Unfortunately there have been sooooo many changes and so much different input it is hard to keep up with all the changes.
