Would like to get better at going downwind with strapless this season before having to deal with swell/ white water (Swanbourne-Trigg sections).

Is there a location that offers flat water (similar to pengos) for a large stretch of beach? I was thinking of Singleton up to Secret Harbour but ide assume it would also get some swell and chop? Maybe someone can shed some light on the conditions out that way in 20kn+ wind.

I assume Leighton-Swanbourne is the next logical step in the metro area but it still gets real choppy out the back.

Singlton to Secrets has waves but if you stay closer in you should be fine, also less people around in the water to worry about.
You won't get "flat" water in the open ocean when its windy unless it's sheltered from the ocean swell.

If you just want to practice riding on the surfboard, go somewhere sheltered more suited to freestyle riding at first. Out the back of the pond would be good as there are no breaking waves and plenty of room to mess around. You can walk out the sandbar until you're confident in riding upwind on the surfboard.
