Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some advice in creating a kitesurfing based website.

We are a group based around Perth that run a kitesurfing league every year for learning new tricks and progressing our kitesurfing skills, we update it once a week, graph our results and the person who has progressed most at the end of the season wins the league and the smallest, tackiest trophy ever!

It’s really just for fun but it really encourages us to attempt new tricks and keep on progressing! I have found that I am more likely to try new variations or attempt new tricks because I could score some points. It’s not just for advanced riders either; almost half of our group are beginners who get points for just staying upwind or riding toe side etc so the playing field is very level!

We are using a spreadsheet which is becoming very complicated and has hundreds of tricks listed (most that I didn’t even know existed)! We have video links and descriptions of each trick where available and they usually follow a natural progression from the next.

What I would like to do is get this developed into a website where users can log in and develop their rider profile, tick off the tricks they can do which will show them their standing in their locality. It will have league tables, filters, progression graphs and the ability to create groups with friends to run their own competitions.

I’m just wondering for this type of a website is it something a web design company would have to create or would it be possible to get some people on board from the kitesurfing community to make this happen? I think it would need to be a ‘fun’ looking website and easy to use to get people to create their profile.

I don’t have any experience in website design so appreciate any advice or comments. Feel free to PM with any suggestions or if you would like to help out.

Thanks,

Might be worth contacting Laurie, the seabreeze owner and see if he is interested in including the concept into the seabreeze site.
