Hello!
I´m from Germany and visiting Australia for the second time, but the fist time going to the West/South West and really looking forward to enjoy!
I´m not a rookie in Kiting, but not a pro yet, can stay upwind ok to good, so something Kiting in between and haven´t kited waves yet, so I´m looking for Kite Spots mainly with Flat water.
Me (and two friends of mine, no kiter, but they gonna go to be one :-)) rent a camper, going from Perth the Loop down to Esperance, up north to Exmouth, stopping wherever we want…

I haven´t been kiting in Australia before, but now I´m on a kind of Kitetrip for 7 weeks in Western Australia!! wow!!! So whats on?

Have you guys here some local hints for a German girl, where to go Kiting in the Soutwest/west in general?
I know, its too big to count many of them, but just some places, I don´t have to miss at all!!

Just about any beach along the coast between Esperance and Exmouth will have some sort of seabreeze in the afternoon at this time of year. Just be bloody careful of the big swells on the south coast / SW coast beaches (Esperance to Margerate River) if you've not use to waves. On the Perth metro coast, the swell is generally pretty small so you'd be right to kite along most of our beaches - but please stay out of the red/yellow swimming flags and ask local kiters for advice on launching / landing rules at the local beaches - this helps the local kiters and other local beach users stay happy and keeps our beaches open to kiting.
North of Perth - i.e. Lancelin, Jurien, Geraldton all have great flat water beaches to kite at without too much swell.

I'm (20 year old German Boy) also coming to Western Australia for Kitesurfing at the beginning of December!

Is there any Hostel that could be recommended? Would be really nice to have a kitesurfspot near. I would rate myself as intermediate. Deep or choppy water should'nt be a problem, although i prefer flat water spots :)

I stumbled over the Ocean Beach Backpacker Hostel but just read that one needs an WAKSA membership to kitesurf at Cottesloe beach?
Is this this common for kitesurf beaches in WA/Perth or is this more of an exception?

I will arrive in Perth all on my own and haven't got one contact down there, so i'd be really happy to get some tips or at least find some kitesurfbuddies to join the fun

Hi Tina,
we just have come back from our 3 weeks in Sandy Bay / Exmouth (we just stayed and stayed ;) ). Definitely one of the (or even the?) must see spot although we had 5 days without wind, the seabreeze was obviously blocked by some kind of troph or something. The other days were very reliable and worked very good with sizes from 11 to 7.
There are cheap basic national park campsites just around in the next bay, however if you don't want to drive 90km or more a day for a shower etc. you need to be self sufficient.

Heading down now, who knows, maybe see ya on the way or at oase ;)

Denham in Shark Bay has massive area of flat, shallow, bright turquoise water for 200 metres out. Backpackers and campsite are on the beach.

Half hour other side of peninsular is Monkey Mia where you can check out the dolphins. Happy hols

About WAKSA might very well be true, but in the practical sense it's more of a 'use common sense rule'. Do not ksurf close to Cottesloe beach - keep out. Or go little bit north of Ocean beach backpackers and stay away from people - and weekends.
