Ok, so after spending a while reading through the old topics I cant seem to find anything that answers my question.

How far north on the west coast can you go in a van, before needing 4wd?

Arriving in Perth in about a month (I'm not an idiot in coming late season!!) and will be staying for a whole year!

any help much appreciated! cheers

The only place you may wish you had a 4WD is Dalkeith.

Um, not sure if I quite get the gist of what you are asking but along with flushing toilets, sliced bread and 24 hour electricity supply we have sealed bitumen roads all through out Western Australia. There are a few 4wd only spots but I am confident the other 1 or 2 spots we have will keep you busy!

Cheers.

I meant the road quality! I have read in some places you need a 4wd for get to exmouth. Others say you dont need one....?!

Dalkeith is in Perth is it not?

you can get to exmouth in a van. If you want to go 'off road' you need a 4WD. 80% of spots are available with 2WD.
