WAKSA will be publishing the full details of this schedule and events on the *new* WAKSA website in early September 2006. So mark down your diaries and join in with everyone for the following scheduled events:
Sept 24th Downwinder - Season opener.
Oct 15th Open Day - North Scarborough/Contacio's. Come and Try, demonstration and introduction followed by an Expression Session when the wind comes in.
Nov 5th Downwinder - Leighton to Swanbourne.
Nov 19th Youth and Woman's Day (Combined) - Pinnaroo
Dec 10th BIG AIR day - North Scarborough/Contactio's
Jan 20th, 21st Wave Titles - Contacio's
Feb 3rd & 4th 2007 Freestyle Titles - Woodman's Point
Feb 23rd, 24th, 25th Kitestock
A number of other events are in the wings and will be announced throughout the season.
Friday 16th March 2007: Season Close - AGM and Party.

This looks good! I love the kids and girls day! Hopefully I'm going to WA again my winter (your summer)
Are non-australians still allowed to enter all the events? I did the WA freestyle titles last year and it was great!

Hey Vishy,
Yes, Laurie has accidenatlly made some typos;
the season opener is Sunday the 24th of September.
The second down-winder in November is the 5th not the 15th.

Hi Everyone,
A Leighton to Pinnaroo downwinder has been on the WAKSA list of back-up events since the beginning of the season. It was categorised a back-up event as the Race 2 Rotto, being the mother of all downwinders, was possibly going to happen.
Unfortunately the Race to Rotto has once again proven to also be the mother of all organisational and bureaucratic feats (all give Michael Brooks a pat on the back next time you see him). Therefore if enough interest is expressed, WAKSA will look to stage the Pinnaroo to Leighton downwinder, perhaps on the weekend initially slated for the Race 2 Rotto.

Hi, What about someone who has just got an Oz migrants visa, can they compete?
I am from South Africa originally and have just been granted my visa for australia, got a job organised in perth starting Jan. I competed in the UK amatuer curcuit and was wondering if I could come and have a crack at the comps in Perth.
Dont worry I am setting myself up for a fall because everyone knows you guys are better at sport than us.

OK, After re-reading the previous message isn't entirely clear;
The WA State Titles events are 'Open' events, meaning absolutely anyone from anywhere in the world can compete in any division they are eligible to.
In order to run the same format as last year that received loud support from competitors (ranked riders get immediate passage to later rounds whilst up-and-comers have the earlier rounds to themselves to gain some experience and confidence without the threat of the number 1 smashing them straight away), non-WA residents wishing to compete will need to supply their competition history in order for us to work them into the format. More info on this closer to the times.
The only reason to continue distinguishing between residents and non-residents is for the actual rankings and title of 'State Champion'; there's no point having a foreign champion so at the end of the event we need to work out the rankings seperately from the raw result by removing the 'foreigners' from the rankings. Last year we used temporary or permanent residency but this is also open to discussion closer to the events.
