Hey guys, i am new to the forum and i am looking at getting a training kite to get the knack of kiteboarding. I am not new to kite flying as i have had a buggy before but i suffered a shoulder injury and i am now wanting to get into the sport again. I want a kite that i will allow me to landboard behind as well. I have looked on the internet and am getting confused on all the available products, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Foils are what land/snow kiters use (mostly)

I have a 4.8meter nasa wing, which is a great trainer, flys in a bugs fart with good power at 6 knots for training and you can landboard downwind from about 12knots, albeit very slowly, 15 knots it gets quicker, but near impossible to hold on to :-P

I would just get a full size kite if you want to kitesurf. Unless your after just a bit of fun with friends, then a trainer is good.

If you can buggy you have all the kite skills you need. Just a run down of how the safety works and flying on a bar rather than handles. Peter Lynn Twin skin kites are good for water/land/snow and have got an 8 and 12m myself, I also use my LEI for water and landboarding and seen them on the snow. Just to confuse you even more I also have a 10m open cell foil which I use on land/water/snow. If you going to landboard and kiteboard I would go for a peter lynn. but any kite would work. Open cell foils sink when you crash them in the water and have a 100% non water relaunch but dont crash them and they are great.

Its a 10m avalanche. Made and designed by Phil McConnachie in South Australia [email protected]. Been doing several light wind downwinders on skim boards with it.
