Hey Guys,

i?m going to fly to WA end of this year for travelling and kiting. My plan is to start somewhere south of WA and going north by the time. I?m 205 pounds and 6`2". In germany i usually use a 9 and 12 meter Open C (C4 or RPM 2011). Some of my mates said a 9 meter could be too small for WA at this time of the year. Right now i?m looking for new kitestuff and it would be a shame to get some stuff, i cant use properbly in WA. I need your help.

Which would be the right kite size for me?

I want to practice mostly handlepasses.

Thanks in advance!

A good season , 7 and 10, a bad season 8 and 12, November at exmouth usually generates memorable sessions of regular 30 knts, the Midwest in a good season has consistent 25knts plus, call in at dongara 20klms of Kiting heaven with about 4 kiters and cold beers after, great destinations all up the wa coast, wind wonderland, are you getting excited

Can?wait for it :). Thanks a lot for helping me. 25 Knots + seems to be 7 m? Wind. So you would recommend to start up in the north beginning of nov, and move south until end of feb. I love to ride 12 and 9 meter to learn unhooked tricks.

I have a 7 m Cabrinha nomad for downwinders which mainly get used in storms in the winter .I still use in the summer on those 30 knot plus thermal wind days a 10 m North vegas for practicing unhooked riding and kitloops ..boosting big exc.... and a 17m is and Ozone edge for light wind .I ride the edge with an airush sector board and can have a laugh in 8 knots!..The ozone edge is not good for unhooking though, but its better than siting on the beach twiddling you thumbs when there is only 10 knots. At 15 knots Iam fully lit on the 17m and boosting big while others are just mowing the lawns and tea bagging.Last summer I kited 5 to 6 days per week with that quiver.
I would definantly think about 2 different size twin tips a normal size and maybe a light wind board too.
I have a 139 x39 f one trax 2009....best board I have tried in nuking winds and mega chop.A shinn mutant for waves and light wind its a 148 x44 and airush xpact twintip a 138 x 41 for freestyle..and my dedicated light wind board with the best bottom end ..the airush sector 52...it doesn't go up wind as good as a raceboard, but smokes ant light wind TT Ive tried .
If you want to kite every day possible .I would go with the 3 kite quiver and at least 2 boards. If you have a camper I would go with he extra gear.
I weigh 83 kgs so you at 205 pounds may be an 8 a 12 and 19m.Your 12 m being your most used kite . A 138x40 or 41 and a light wind board with a 45 or 46 width would greatly improve your wind range.

Board swaps are great for wind variation and its easier than rigging another kite up.

I usually use my 10m vegas the most and I love being powered and just slightly overpowered.I would prefer to be over powered than under powered unless Iam practicing unhooking. My vegas I will start using at 18 knots all the way to 35 knots. You at 205 would probably need a 12m at 18 knots.
Most perth summer days will be between 20 -25 knots and up around gero would be a bit stronger. There is always going to be 30 to 35 knot days here an there .If you r main focus is handle passes then maybe rig a bit smaller!

I have had a 2011 Vegas two month ago. Wasn?t a good choice. I needed at least 18 Knoten for my 12m? ;). But if your weapon is your 10m Vegas, mine could be a 10m? Slingshot RPM, because it has a better Lowend in my opinion and 20 to 25 kts in perth sounds like i?m perfect powered with "my" 10m?, i will have to buy :D.

May be i should get a 14 Rally/RPM and 8 RPM.

But am i right, the wind gets stronger when going north, true? So starting a Perth with (20-25) Knots, there will be 30-35 knots at denham?!

by all means if sling shot is what you like go with that...and yes the vegas is not great up wind and doesn't have a very good bottom end .Also depends on what board your using too. The wind does get stronger around Denham and more consistanly strong!. a 7 m or 8m FOR THAT!.On your 10 you will be too over powered for unhooking and doing handle passes.but if your into mega loops the 10 could be the way to go!.

But the vegas slack after the peak of your jump is awesome! Nice kite, but not my first chioce ;). Anyway. Thanks again for your help! I?m just ordered a 10 meter RPM fropm 2012 and will additionally go for a Liquid Force Envy 15m? from 2011. Whats your opinon of a 15 meter ;)? Should be just for those light wind days. Don?t want be at "this" amazing spot with just 14 knots that day. Don?t feel like missing that kind of session.

And yes, for those 30 Knots days, il will get a 7 or 8 meter for looping the kite. A megaloop on my 10 meter? Are you crazy ? I really don?t want to be in hospital in aussie :D.

Liquid force do a 17 m light wind kite...I'd go for that.you will be fully lit at 14 knots and will handle up to 20 knots..it does save the day if you have a light wind specific kite....if you want to kite all day long ..light wind kite in the morning and high wind kiting in the afternoon.
