with all those green arrows on the wind forecast I'm keen for a kite on saturday
I'm 80kg with a 8m kite so I know I'll be a bit overpowered
but I figure if I just go a downwinder with boots on I should be alright
ofcourse, this is my first season, so, any reasons I shouldn't?

Have a blast!

Go and get yourself some pads, for less than 100 bucks. It will make a world of difference in the waves.

Boots are great and im not knocking them. However, keep in mind that Its always good to get your feet free if you get slammed on a wave or drop your kite in the waves.

if in doubt dont go out, means your not confident in your own ability, not being smart its just generally a good indication, flatwater is easier than ocean conditions, location if it all goes to ****, youll have pleny of good winds soon so if your not confident ride another day, not trying to piss on your parade just giving my oppinion

Saturday was insane. 35kts with 40kt gusts in the pond was too hot for my 7 Evo. Some guys on a 5 were going well.

It was a good lesson. Started okay for maybe 30-40 mins but quickly got too much on my 9m at the pond. Ended up pulling the safety release and going home with tail between legs. Embarrasing but I'll be back.

We hit Saturday wayyyyy to early at the pond.

I was hoping for 7m conditions, but it was so light at 10am, I decided to pump up the 9m. It was on, it was off.

I finished up around 12, about an hour later it was nuking.

Here a small edit from Saturday before conditions went nuts.
