The Melbourne Blokart Club is pleased to present the Sandy Point Trophy series. The 4 rounds will occur on the following dates:

Sunday July 4th 9.00am
Saturday August 7th 10.00am
Sunday September 5th 10.00am
Sunday October 3rd 10.00am

The dates have been selected based on the best available combinations of low tide times and the size of the beach that particular tide will provide. The tides are late enough to make it a viable prospect for maximising sailing time, without needing a very early start or causing a late arrival back home. The meeting place is outside the Sandy Point Cafe. You can enter on the day, $10 per round for MBC members and $15 per round for non-members.Sailing will be either on Warratah Bay or at Shallow Inlet, depending on wind direction.

Please encourage anyone you know with a blokart to come and take part. The racing is very relaxed and sailors of all experience levels will be very welcome. It's a great way to broaden your enjoyment of the sport.

Re: 2010 Sandy Point Trophy SeriesJohn Toomath Monday, 5 July 2010 17:42 Results From Round 1
The series kicked off with a turnout of 8 karts, with a mix of new sailors and some of the regulars. Although the sea was calm and the front beach wide, the breeze was Northerly enough for Shallow Inlet to be a better site. (This is just 3km from the township). After waiting awhile in the hope that more wind would arrive, we settled for the 4 - 8 knots that was available. A boomerang course was set on the firm sand, followed by 8 x 10 minute races.
Ben outclassed the rest of the pack and left the minor placings for a tussle amongst the rest of us. 5.5m sails were the only viable sail and everyone got the opportunity to pick up an isolated gust and blast past the rest of the field on that leg. As usual, the atmosphere was relaxed with even portions of advice and cheek handed out.

Don't miss Round 2 on Saturday August 7th, where hopefully numbers will be boosted by those who were laid low by sickness this time.

ROUND THREE (FATHERS DAY)

What a great Fathers Day it turned out to be with six karts braving the elements and the fall out of realy wild Saturdays weather. The 20knt S/W wind held up the tide for a little longer than we wanted to with the occasional sweepers that y...ou had to dodge (Ray) made for some interesting tack turns at the leeward turn mark(Ben) we proceeded to punch through eight qick fire races that had everyone hanging on for the finishes.A share of podium finishes had everyone sharpening their dial up and start procedures with some realy tight and willing start lines. Thanks to Ross for making the journey and doing the scoring hope to see you back in the kart soon. Good luck to our club members that will be heading across the world to compete at the Worlds in Belgium and to the Queensland regatta, till next round October 3rd keep practising and dont forget early bird entry for the Vic State titles closes on the 10Th. Ps
Old Wal you gotta get on the beach a bit earlier if you want to whoop our arses. G Bangor
