I'm trying to locate some 4.00/6 2ply tyres, ribbed tread pattern, for a racing billycart. I spoke to John at hunter land sailing (thanks mate) and it seems most of the tyres available are 4 ply. Just wondered if anyone may have some 2ply tyres, any condition, they may be willing to part with. Sell or maybe swap 4 ply. I'm in the Newcastle area but will happily pay postage. Phil.

I have checked my local supplier but they seem to only have 4 ply in that size.

2 ply tyres give much better 'rebound' than 4 plys, better bounce. It makes a big difference in gravity racing, in my experience anyway. I've used 2 and 4 ply tyres in 8" and the 2s are a lot quicker. Thanks for looking.

You do occasionally see the 2ply ribbed on hand trolleys at bunnings. usually about $30 for the whole trolley. at that price you are getting ripped off cos' the wheels are crap and the tyres cant be inflated without distorting. One trolley I know of the owner bought some blokart 4ply tyres.
The blowie 4plys are the same thickness as a wheelbarrow 2 ply anyway
