Had to go into Wilson's Industrial Sales yesterday for some bolts etc.

I noticed that they no longer had Fallshaw wheels in the window but another brand, Richmonds. Links below.

On enquiring about it they told me they no longer stock Fallshaws because their prices just keep going up and up and up.

Last Fallshaws I bought cost $44 ea.

The same size Richmonds they sell for $45 including tube, tyre and pressed metal bearings. The wheel mould is different from the Fallshaws and looks to be the same as the cheap barrow wheels from Bunnings.

I think the Fallshaw rims would be ultimately stronger but the Richmonds look to be up to the job.

Using the displayed url "www.richmond.com.au" brought no result but a google search brought up the following.

www.richmondau.com/

www.richmondnz.co.nz/

Click around their sites. Lots of other interesting stuff there too.

I bought some Fallshaws here in NZ on 22/12/10 NZ$19.56 each
bushes to suit 6204 bearings NZ 1.29 each
6204 bearings NZ 2.85 each

Not sure what the exchange rate is at present but but you could knock 20% off or so for Aus currency
Above prices are without tyres and tubes

Those websites didnt respond when i clicked them. do you want to ask them to send me 2 wheels for testingand i can give you a really good/ bad report
( 10 minutes later )finally got it sorted.
had a look at the plastic wheel range, very limited ,only bearings were a nylon bush or a flange bearing( crappy wheel barrow?) the steel rims shown were those really crap chineese stuff you can buy from the cheap auto joints and big hardware sheds.
But if somebody wants to reallllllllly test them give us a report and i will be willing to eat my hat

Probably 75% of Wilson's Industrial Sales customer base are farmers who are
historically lousy buggers when it comes to spending a quid. Therefore it is not surprising they have dropped the stock line.

As I said though:-"I think the Fallshaw rims would be ultimately stronger but the Richmonds look to be up to the job."

It appears that all moulded plastic wheels available in Australia (bar Fallshaws) are manufactured in New Zealand which is fine.

However on Richmonds Aus web site they declare themselves to be 100% Aus
owned and operated.

Present company excluded of course, is this another case of the Kiwis pulling the wool?

Richmond New Zealand has an Au contact E-mail address so it probably is an
OZ company Most New Zealand companies are now OZ owned anyway!

Landyacht. You are tooo generous. Don't BS about YOU TESTING them. I have seen pic's of Testpilot1 He will be the one putting those wheels through their Paces. What is he about 6'2" and 130kgs? plus wind pressure? Hmmm! a pretty fair work out I should think..[}:)].

The Plastics I bought I am sure Chinese made and I will test the heavily. The bearings ground out quickly and I have bought some higher quality ones, so here goes a test on them.

I found a site in the States that do Bearings and will grind them and fit them with a retainer Ring that then will make the suitable for Barrow wheels. If I can now get the bearings that are the right size. It appears that Barrow wheels are a beast of their own Spec's. If you want I will keep you informed.

There is an outfit in Whangerai I believe that make the plastic wheels that blokart originally used. (6")
They are good quality and exported to here and used on garden trailers. I have bought them for $55 with tyres and tubes.
I'd be interested to know if they make an 8" wheel.
Any idea who they might be Hiko?

Jesus! They are stacking it high and heavy these days Ah Ha! You can't get me! Ah HA!
Gawd! Testpilot, You can sail a LY ?? That has to be a big unit. My Son is complaining about my machines being too small and the lage length is just a smig' on the long side for me. Mind you I'm only a short ass at 5'10.5". He too is a 6x6er and 110Kgs. What the Hell did your parents feed you on?? We just stood Trav' in a tub of S''te and he grew like a weed and got big and strong enough to hold a Bull out to Piddle.

SN you don't know why???? Damn! It is a natural phenomena.. Perth is at the back end of the would. The Sales Base is lower and the Transport dearer Hence Prices go up a buck or 2 but there is more. Yes! Still More. The shops have less competition so the Jack Up the prices a bit more as well..Like $25 more.
Not Tellin'

PS.> I gotsta say that those 8 x2.5" Briskite Rims do not even look like letting a Round Profile Barrow Tire Peel Off on the front wheel. The wheel sticks like the proverbial to a blanket. I have no fear of them going wrong at all and I should think that Tarmac would cause grief if it were going to happen. They are a nice light strong Rim and would say that if you are looking for a Top End Rim then go for a set of 8" x 3.5" - 4" and a bottom side width 2.5" on the Front. No doubt the more conservative members will say 3" wide. It all works for me.

PPS. I may have already said the Edwards 6"x6" and Aircraft Tires are brilliant. This arvo I game mine a Pizzeling in Power Slides they Stuck like Glue and you can't see where they were skidded. And what could be better than "For Free"

I sail a LLM and a Promo.
As far as size goes, your son and I are naturally bigger than our respective parents because your generation were malnourished because of war rationing and before that poor quality food. We on the other hand had the advantage of frozen and or fresher food veges etc.
My old man was 4'12" me mum was5'4"
And, I ate all my veges!

Well I don't know as those are the reasons for your size as from my poor memory I seem to remember Trav not eating a lot (At least at Meal times) he seemed to barely eat enough to give a Sparrow a decent turd. Even so at one point he grew quickly 10" in one year. Couldn't afford to feed him. He kept me bloke, Keeping him Shod and Clothed I dare say you pressed those problems upon you Folks as well
