Hello Again, long time no post.
Glad to see you are all still on here and that we have one or two new members.

I'm just finishing off my Lake Lefroy Mini Yacht, and was wondering what sort of weight a steel example would end up as? Mine seems quite heavy, and even though im a big bloke and so I made it out of thicker steel I wondered if it was a bit to heavy. not got it weighed yet, and I understand its a little like how long is a piece of string so just a rough idea will do. I will post a finished photo once its finished. Is the register post still open to add onto.
Spring is here at last, and i'm ready for the beach

Kind regards
Jay
P.S any news on Gizmo and his recovery?

the main chassis spine is fence post steel tube, 62mm? diameter.

My mini came in at 34 kg without mast and sail and performs as good as or better than a blokart (subject to wind conditions).

All chassis components are 1.6 mm wall thickness (quite strong enough for my 97 kg) but my axles are 1" solids which is overkill. I will be converting to 1" x 2 mm stainless stub axles soon.

Seat and back are 8 mm hardwood ply base with 140 mm x 18mm sides. This is where the weight came in. My fibreglassing friend is going to take a mould off it.

A fibreglass seat might reduce weight by 5 kg.

Mrs Duck says Gizmo is back home and doing well. Cheers Cisco.

My Mini weighs in at 33kg ready to sail
The seat is quite light being stitch and glue
I guess another kilo or so could be shaved off but I dont think I could make it much lighter easily Probably should shave some off the pilot
Cheers Hiko
