Tonight i was making up a spare mast for Gillies and was sorting through the pile of tatty thin sailboard masts for one to use as an internal stiffener. Having found the right one I shoved it up the mast till it jammed and cut off the excess. when I looked inside the leftover remnant mast with a light behind it you could the clearly see how carefully the UNIDIRECTIONAL CARBON FIBRES had been laid into the mast. Probably 30% carbon!
I now feel like a bit of a twit, but on the other hand have created a stupidly stiff mast.
I didnt even realize I had any carbon masts in the shed
