Buying an older used Blokart.
It is a grey powder coat with a black seat.
Glass mast with a 7 month old 4m sail which includes the older style batten tensioners and shaved battens.
Older downhaul upgrade with an original sheet pulley.
POD
Updated fork
Extra bearings

I have piloted kite buggies an windsurfed for a couple of decades and just sold one of my one off race buggies to buy a Blokart. I fell in love with them at an event in Wildwood, New Jersey USA.

Questions:

Most of my local sites are old parking lots, Soccer fields and an abandoned airfield just north of New York City. I was considering purchasing the Blokart disc brakes. I only get to the beach a few times a year. How easy or hard is to take them on and off due to sandy locations? Pr cons?

Looking at purchasing a Harken 2135 ratchet block. Any advise on types?

Larger fork with rear wheel for Soccer fields? Or is my money better spent on two lower ultra carbon mast sections?

Any words of wisdom?

Thanks,
Neil

Neil,

Looking at purchasing a Harken 2135 ratchet block. Any advice on types?

Here is a Ratchet block offered by one of my product sponsors. Nautos USA

I have ocean sailed for years with Nautos blocks, sheets and cleats, as well as their rigging hardware (Tangs, bails, etc.etc.)

This is an awesome block that has worked without failure or issues for years on a salt water raced Hobie 16. Hobie's are notorious for tearing up blocks and these stand the test of time and performance. They have outlasted all my Harkins, Ronsatns and Scheafers. All of my rigging now solely consists of Nautos products!

I'm sure you will be more than happy with it, and the price!

This is a link to the block below.

Neil once you become a bit more competent and confident in controlling the kart I feel the brake would be waste of money an alternative brake is the hand brake type that slips over the back axle and acts as a friction lever against the surface, money better spent would be an ultra carbon race base kit plus more carbon mast sections. We have to run a brake system when we operate on council owned venues, but on sandy or salty base venues they are useless, for ease of installation I have a complete front fork wheel and disc brake mounted ready to go.
