Is it possible within the FISLY rules to build a timber axle Class 5?
The FISLY class 5 promo rules are quite prescriptive on the materials that the yacht must be made from.
B. Chassis
B-1. Materials, dimensionsThe chassis is made of steel tubes. Exceptions are nuts, bolts, washers, axles, steering pivot, brake, foot pedal and support that can be made of stainless steel.B-4. The axle tubesEach axle tube consists of maximum two tubes
Each axle tube consists of one entire external tube
Each axle tube has one open end to make scrutineering possible
Each wheel sindle holder is welded onto the axle tube
Each axle is straightHowever the FISLY Class 5 rules state:
CHASSIS
C3. The chassis must be made of metal tubes, the section of which must be round, square or rectangular. Cables are forbidden, except for the steering. The rules don't go into any details about axles.
