Hi, I'm Hal from near the east coast of USA. I've enjoyed your forum now for several months. Vacationed out west earlier this year and intended to rent a blowkart and see some of the high performance yachts at lake Ivanpah. Just my luck .....no wind.....no yachts. After returning home, I figured what the heck. I'll just build a LL Mini. But we in America have been slow to adopt the metric system. Our tubing sizes don't nest closely, so the rear axle was built in one piece. No falshaw wheels, so cheap steel wheelbarrow wheels will have to do for now. After completing the frame I couldn't wait to try it out. With an early design sailboard sail and boom along with my auto creeper as a seat, we headed for a nearly empty parking lot. Wow, this thing is fun. Currently working on modifying a nicer sail and need to improve my 2nd seat. I'll try to post some pictures after completed. I had a few doubts about some of the design of the LL mini, but all my doubts were unfounded. The LL Mini is an excellent design and I now see subtle clever things about the design that I would have never thought of. (seat front acts as a fender) Thanks for publishing the plans.

Welcome to the forum Hal
Glad you are getting some benefit from it as I have
Building and sailing these yachts is fun as you have found
The LLF mini is a great little yacht for the home builder as you say It has been well thought out and fits the purpose well
Adapting the design to suit available matierials is something most of us have to do in some way or another
The seat front also has another purpose it deflects some of the water when used on the beach
Good to hear from you Hal Look forward to seeing the results of your efforts
regards Hiko

Greetings Hal... From a fellow "bloody YANK"!
You'll find our southern hemisphere sailing brothers are very helpful.

Not sure where you're sourcing your materials but don't forget about the local salvage yard. Lots of good, cheap stuff to pick from there.

Regards,
-Nat

Thanks, it was Paul's idea.

I'll let Laurie know but as a work around you can select "All" (the top item in the dropdown under forums) in the blue bar then it appears under there.

Laurie has been helping me out a lot lately regarding other issues, so I won't harrass him just yet.
