Hi all
I have just started building my first LLF Mini. I am having trouble finding the steel for the centre or my rear axle and thought about having a wooden plank. Has any body else done this? What timber do you use and what size?
Thanks in advance

Someone on here used old snow skis, that might be an option.

How about a plywood tub for a body,
with snow ski's for rear axles, bolted to the tub,
and a front axle assembly bolted to the ply body?
You might even be able to make it so the front axle + steering, and rear axle assembly can be easily detached and packed into the tub- along with a rolled up sail and a multi section mast and collapsable boom.
Something along these lines might make a pretty compact landyacht for transporting and storage?
Just keep to the basic lefroy mini dimensions and its all sweet!

Kiwi boy Here in New Zealand second hand skis are available for a song I have even been given them They make great mini rear axles if doubled up and both my minis now have them
I used 2mm exhaust tube for the rest of the chassis Its available from any exhaust shop at whatever lengths you want
If you are in the Waikato bay of plenty region I can give you some leads if you PM me
