hello all
after years of daydreaming ive started to gather bits and pieces to build one of these fabulous contraptions. i have found so much wonderful information over the last month, reading these forum topics. Although one area that i need explaining to my unknowing imagination is details to "build" or assemble the mast and associated bits!
main points are: do i need to "stiffen" a windsurfer mast and how?
: how does it actually attach to the frame ie does it just sit in the upright tube bit? (tight fitting?)
:and where does it pivot from?
these questions may seem obvious, but for someone who hasnt seen or driven a land yacht in 8 years (just once for a couple of hours) i am scratching my head.
If anyone could help with info or steer me in the right direction i would be most grateful.
thanks

Welcome to the assylum!

Your mast will need stiffening, there are a few ways to do it.

find someone with a lathe who can turn a 900mm to 1200mm length of tapered wood that fits inside the bottom of your mast,

or a similar length of aluminium tube, with a couple of lengthwise cuts at the narrow end,

or a section of recycled mast pushed up inside your mast, all three types can be held in place with some silastic type goop.

The mast just sits inside the mast support tube (proper name is the "mast step")
it is a loose fit, and can pivot inside the step.

Where abouts are you- there is a fair chance you might have someone local that can help you.

Stephen.
