Not sure if this has been covered anywhere before, while thinking about my next sail cut i have come up with the idea of useing cloth tape [1st pref.] or fibreglass tape where the monofilm requires stitching. This could aslo be used where stitching clear pannels in older type sails. Both the above tapes are my preferance for windsurf sail emergency repairs and work well.

I havent been able to find any Fibreglaas re'enforced tape in town.
the last sail I did ( monofilm ) I used 10mm double sided between the 2 layers, then double sided each side with a 15mm strip of dacron sailcloth each side. very rugged join that sewed easily

just started another sail cut and while thinking about how to get enough reinforcement into the top of luff pocket[stop mast from breaking through] Ive decided this sail and future sails will be made with eyelets and have the option of being adjustable;;advantage;1 mast multiple sails.i know the luff on this sail will be 200 mm shorter than my mast so was going to make another shorter mast tip,and as i am already needing 2 eyelets ,front and rear of boom 1 more is a simple solution.Beware of the average hardware eyelet kits[crap]get mine done at local upholsterer stainless steel and last.Sail on right Ive used the reinforced eyelet section from the boom out haul and stitched it on ,new sail on the left will have the eyelet about 50mm in from edge, already seven layers of material there plus the luff pocket will be plenty strong enough.

Yep, standard "old tech" mast cap.
Just be careful where you put the eyelet as too far back from the mast will distort the shape of the sail at the top. If you want to experiment put in a few eyelets.
Hint, 50mm may be too far back. (Unless you want to make a masthead crane)
