Hi! Good people just wanted to let you know the missus and I went to see the movie Australia today. We thought it was outstanding. I also got to atend resently an Australian Pink Floyd concert in our town. I thought it was great. I would like to know when and if you see the movie if it represented Australia well. At least get your thoughts on it if you please.

Hi Okie.
Welcone to the site, We are going to see the movie next week. The country where the movie was made is breath taking. I have been there a couple of times. No picture can capture all the beauty of the area.

Cheers

Whilst not yet to see the movie, I have to agree, the scenery in the Kimberly is awe inspiring.
Had the pleasure of spending some time last year touring the region, taking in Purnalu, Gibb River Rd, Mitchell Plateau and Cape Leveaque. The distances to get there and to travel the region mean it's yet to be spoilt with the tourists throng. The movie may change that!!

Ive been up there (the kimberlys)numerous times both by car (3,100 km trip one way) and flying(three planes, each one smaller than the last)the area is similar to parts of south africa except more tree type vegetation. It gets hot. It gets wet(the resisdents thought few in number call it the big wet). The last time that I drove I made it in 60 hours(no speeding). Kununurra is the largest town and 100km from coast. On the coast is Wyndam. This town is in 2 parts with the port and pub right on the coast, and the main town 2km inland along flood plain. When dry the flood plain would make an excelent sailing area the only drawback being the CROCODILES which make the area home. Picture this :- flying along in a mini or promo trying to dodge the odd croc or two, spin out and capsize and get your yacht back in sailing condition before coming to anythings attention. A sure way to get that adrenaline buzz!!!
