you are thinking of "snowgum" the trading name of what used to be known as the scout shops, originally sold uniforms and stuff for the scouting organisation, but they changed the name to snowgum as marketing move to open up to the camping/ hiking public.
My family must have spent a fortune there over the years....mum ran the perth shop, step dad ran all the NSW shops
