Well the "Australian online Landyacht community" is now a whole 6 months old. In years to come, if this section survives, you all will be looked upon as the founding members, so I just thought I'd throw this out there.

How do you think we're going. Is there anything we could be doing to make the forum more interesting, enjoyable, informative, fun etc etc etc.

Should we recommend any self imposed moderation, perform any housekeeping or anything else to make it a better place? Are there any other sections you'd like to see created, for example club sections etc.

Any ideas can be made into a sticky, or added as a post under Lauries "posting guidelines" for all new forumites to read when they join.

All feedback good or bad will be greatfully accepted!!

Cheers

I always wished more photo's would be posted. From events, construction, etc. But thats only a small thing, and the forum is only young so a couple of hundred pics in that time is pretty darn good. I don't think you can ever get too many images, expecially for isolated people such as myself.

I think this forum is going well, so long as the arguments don't get to passionate.

Forum is great hillsy. It's filling up with a heck of a lot of posts. I went through all mine other day and deleted what was either too old or no longer relevant.

Probably a good idea for us all to do occasionally.

It has turned into a gold mine of information with the best exchange of ideas and opinions one could hope for in a very friendly environment.

Seems to get better every day and I hope it keeps getting better as I believe it is the best thing to grow our sport and recreation.

Adios Amigos.

Good questions Hills, I would like to see over time sections where clubs post their news, I think this will evolve over time. As to self moderation I think so far we have done ok, mostly, and we can always, thumbs down posts that we are not happy with.
I have seen more happen with land sailing in the last 4-6 months than we have in the last 4-6 years, this has got to be a good thing. Most of all we are all talking now and no each other exist.
It is fantastic to see some of the newies rustic bush bashing yachts as they *discover* land yachting. Some of them are heaps better than our first attempts.

change nothing , keep haggling, learning, have opinions and ideasand dont be shy about it.
I tell my employees that there is no such thing as a stupid question, only stupid accidents caused by not asking the question.
The relevance here is that we are all learning ,getting great ideas, saving years of trials by finding out who did what already. All in only 6 months.
I feel proud that all this started bacuase I was looking for a mast and Hills had the sense to turn it into a forum.
Nice one hillsy

Personally I find it a little disappointing that there are not a few more contributors (yet). Of the 85 (so far) threads most of the discussion has come from around 25 to 30 regulars. Since some of the posts have 'read' numbers in the thousands there must be an awful lot of lookers out there. Dont get me wrong, thats not necessarily a bad thing because it shows growing awareness of landsailing, it would just be nice to have some new 'faces' as it were. Even if its just to visit the welcome lounge and say hi or to say xxx has a nice yacht/ posted a good photo etc. I guess it will come in good time but IMHO I thought there might have been a few more starters by now thats all.

I enjoy the site have not been on much I am in the process of shifting home (800k)

People are sharing there ideas. But we should encorage more expermentation and experement with new designs. Looking at the World titals our sail designe for class 5 is way behind, The class 5 are now using 8 battens and a very diferent sail cut.

As I said in a previous post some of us like to build and try different things
See you all in S.A over easter.
Cheers

I'm a lurker, love checking out what you guys are up to. I'd really enjoy a sail on a landyacht if I ever get the chance, but at the moment sailing on water is where it's at for me

The comments in the landyacht forum are always well written and insightful, there seems to be a real attitude of 'can do' and helping people. Keep it up, I enjoy reading it!

Cheers all, that's exactly what I'm after. BTW I agree, I really enjoy the forum too. I think we've got a great group in here and there's a great goup in the whole seabreeze forum and Laurie is an excellent administrator!!

I'd also like to see more of the lurkers introduce themselves, just so we know who's out there, but if they'd just like to take it all in, in silence that's also good. All are very welcome regardless of if you're a current, past or future landsailor, into any other form of sailing, kiting etc or if you just find it interesting and never intend to get involved at all.

I've asked Laurie to create a section we can post info about events that can be used by the clubs or individuals alike.

Keep the feed back and suggestions coming, its only going to be as good as we all make it

Hi Cisco, I think this is a good idea, I've also had a bit of a tidy up. Just make sure that when deleting posts the following post doesn't reference the one you're deleting or the thread becomes a little hard to read. (so I've now found )

Gday, next time we have a long weekend why not come up to the desert and have a real sail on our fantastic salt lake. We love to scare visitors.
