Hi people.

Quick intro - I live in Hobart, married and have a 8yr old daughter who is keen to have go some day.

I recently picked up a Pro Blokart in November with carbon mast and 2 sails, 4 & 5.5m.

I must admit, it seems a bit lonely down here with regard to other land sailers. I have sailed on Cremorne beach & Seven Mile (mind the horses) beach. Primrose Sands is next on the list as well as Marion Bay. I have also sailed around the carpark at the Derwent Entertainment Centre although you must restrict your height to about 5 metres due to power lines at 6 metres high.

Wouldn't mind catching up with any other land sailers down this way for a get together some time. Anyone out there?

Cheers

Steve

Make sure you dont get to close too those wires. If they are low voltage just clearing is ok, but if they are high voltage you will need at least 1.5m clearance because static build up in mast could cause a spark to bridge the gap and fry you.
I have had experiance of static build up in carbon fibre mast whilst sailing in thunder storm evidence of which was a glowing blue ball of energy about 500mm at tip of mast. [}:)]

I had a look at the lines before going around the area. Being a Sparky helps i suppose so i knew what i was looking at and the clearances required for safe playing. The lines are 240V but with HV above them higher up.

Hi Tasplas,
Yup! I'm up here at Wynyard. At tho moment I have a bit of Tarmac Approx' 200mtrs x 45mtrs to run on as well as several beaches in this local that are good to run on. I also run Occum's Razor and Schrodinger's Cat, Class 5 and Mini. If you are up this way at any stage give me a Holla.

Beachball57, When you decide to call over this way and if you are heading into the NW give me a Holla as well,
Ron
