That thread was closed due to abusive posts that were deleted. If there are no insults I'm more than happy for the discussion to continue here.

He sailed a Phoenix Swift.

EDIT: Other thread is open again, all offending posts and other posts that referenced them have been deleted by myself or the people who posted them.

I would like to slightly change the direction of this thread before it ends up like the thread on the same subject a few months ago.

Some of the things i would like to know about the "Holy Gale Enduro" are....

How isolated is the lake, what facilities are there?
Where is it?
How long does it take to get there?
What is the lake / wind conditions like?
How does the racing in the US differ from Australia?
What sort of yachts came in as positions 1,2 & 3?
Where there any other problems in the trip..... I have often imagined competing in the US to have hurdles like "Australia 2" had in the America's Cup or the movie "The Worlds Fastest Indian"

I dont know if Kym Lapthorn is a member of seabreeze? if not could he be inticed to be so we can here his story?

I am not going to get involved in any of the hints so far, but referring to Gizmos queries about competing in the US, I found this to be very easily accomplished.
The US guys were unbelievably helpful each time I went there. Loaner vehicles laid on for towing trailer with the whole NZ team (trailer for all the yachts too), host homes etc. The other solo trips I did were very easy, they are(were) so keen to have others to play with.
I would say that any hint of superiority was met with a change of attitude (so subtle that the person involved was probably not aware of what had changed). Then again the same attitude has created the same situation other places (and sports) too!
It's truly amazing to me that when lots is laid on to help that all some people need to do is to say thanks for the attitude to continue. Memories here of buying a vehicle for some overseas visitors for the 199? event at 90 mile beach and never a word of thanks. (Not anyone on this forum)
"Worlds Fastest Indian" shows both sides of the coin, mostly real helpful, and a few that make it hard, thankfully most people are the helpful ones, just that we seem to have the bad bits stick in our throats a bit longer (or perhaps that's just people like me)!

have to agree with Kiwis summary of the yanks, arrived at LAX to be picked up , shown LA then put up for 3 days at a Landsailors parents house ( and a visit to thier dental surgeon) before finding out that our yachts had been assembled in a factory any sent on to Ivanpah .
The international theme of hositality that started with the 1986 International in NZ was well and truely continued on iin 1990 in the US and then in 1993/2006 in Australia. Promo and I still get on with and visit people that we have met at international events ..In fact thats why we still do it
