G'day,

I'm a lunatic 12 foot skiff sailor looking to get into land sailing.

What classes are raced in or around Sydney? I've sailed a Blokart at Blokart's own track in NZ, but would like something bigger and faster, see above.

I have no problem making something, but i don't want to have the only....... in NSW

Hi Skiffe,
I'm new to this forum as well, and it seems quite a few bods are making these yachts www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=33825 including myself, and I'm in England. In fact so many people are making or have made these yachts there is always help at hand, and each one is just a little different. the only down side for you is they are about the same size as a Blokart. Welcome to the forum bye the way

G'day Skiffe, welcome to the forum.

Promo and Class 5 are the next largest classes to blokarts and mini's and the next most common classes. Class 5 and Promo are similar specs, but Promo is a bit more restrictive. There are instructions to build a Pacific Magic which is what I have (they're a class 5 but could easily be modified into a Promo) in the articles section, which was also designed by Paul Day (Landyacht on here). That's mine in my picture <---

I'm told they are faster ( Unfortunately I've never sailed a blokart or mini so I can't compare them) but there are also a some disadvantages, because they are harder to transport and due to their speed you can't sail them on a beach where there might be beach goers present.

There is plenty of expertise on here on the subject, but as Jay said there are more building the Lefroy minis at the moment, so there should be plenty of them to race before too long.
