I am not a land sailor yet. It is however my goal within the next year. I don't know whether to build or buy. My research has turned up; Blokart, Manta, Windhog and Scirrocco. Mostly I would be using it on ocean beaches of the Oregon coast. I could build a land yacht although I'd have to out-source the welding. Oh, yeah, I don't know how to sail on land or water, but I figure that I can learn. I looking for recommendations and/or advise. Thanks

Welcome to the forum David. The answers to your question are all in the forum. Have a good dig around and you will find a wealth of information.

Don't worry about not having sailed before. Once you get into a land yacht you will figure it out fairly quickly. Cheers Cisco

Welcome to the forum David I endorse everything Cisco has said above
If you decide to build I am sure you will get a real buzz out of it There is a wealth of info and plenty of people with advice right here
Dont be intimidated by the welding either its a skill that is relatively easy to pick up
at the level required for landyacht building and welders have come down in price in recent years

I just did a google search on the Oregon Coast and had a look at Ona Beach ... and by the looks you are going to have a fun time....

A suggestion for a yacht is do some research may be with NALSA and see if there are any other land sailors in the area and see what they sail, that type might suit you also.
If your just a little inclined to build a yacht, give it a go even if you did the metal prep work it would possibly take less than 1/2 a day for a preficient welder to weld it up. Its actually quite easy....
