Don't recall how long Hillsy has been the mod, seems like forever, but maybe time to give him a break?

What does everybody else think?

Has anyone asked him?
The workload isn't high normally, and is there anyone out there with the computer skills he has?

Perhaps ask him first?

Lol, thanks. I'm more than happy to hand the role over to someone else. You're right Gizmo, 99% of the time there is absolutely nothing to do.

The first step is to ask for nominations and then vote.

So to get the ball rolling, I nominate Bazl.

Just a thought is it prudent for the moderator to also be the secretary of National Body or might this be a conflict of roles? Either positive or negative.
Remember this sport suffered from being controlled by a very small group in previous recent years.

Valid point Giz, but I'll let the voting public decide that . Mind you what ever we decide on, Laurie has the power of vito, we can only put a recommendation to him and let him make the final decision.

If it turns out that it is affects Bazl's ability to moderate this forum (assuming of course he's interested), we can always hold another election. Laurie is an extrememly fair owner and wise to the way of public forums and won't let anything bad happen.

Another person I thought would make a very good moderator is Lachlan3556, so if you're interested I'd like to nominate you as well Lachlan.

EDIT: actually I should say "Admin" not "moderator". it is our focus to administer this forum not moderate what you say as such.

Sounds OK. It would appear Hills that you aren't averse to a change of pace so let's get the Nominees and have us a Plebiscite.

Not sure how well I would do in your place Hills, but if you think I would be okay feel free to put my name on the list as well. The only experience I have was being a peer-mediator in primary school (not an Admin but in the same ball park)

Must say I am very happy you thought of me, thank you

That's right Ron, no problems here at all. It's been fun but I can't be greedy.

Lachlan, I think being a peer-moderator in primary school makes you perfectly qualified!! Laurie and the other admins are alway happy to help out and I'll always be here to help too.

Yeah! Lachy, just like in school dealing with a bunch of churlish, Impetuous Kids. A good Slap up the back of the head with an Oxford Dictionary is the way to go.[}:)].

Hillsy has been doing a great job so he has my vote again.

I still have to discuss with him his plastering a Seabreeze Logo on my forehead over a few XXXXs or Cooper's Reds yet, which I am trying to put on my 2012 agenda.

So anyway Hillsy, thanks for what you have or have not done this past year and may thee and thine and the rest our great mates on this fabulous forum have a happy and safe festive season and do bigger and better in 2012.

Thanks Cisco, but I also think its time for some new blood in this role.

Is anyone else interested in the role or would like to nominate someone??

My 1st vote is for Hillsy to continue if he able (or wants to)
2nd vote goes to lachlan3556
3rd vote to Chook2 (I think he has had experience at keeping people under control)
4th vote to one of the Blokarters like Arjay
5th vote to AndyB
6th vote to Hiko
I would consider doing it but I think there are others (I've mentioned above) that might be more suited.

As I mentioned earlier in this thread I'm just concerned what some rogues on the forum may do or think if the "Administrator" of the forum is also in the top group of the National Body.
Its not a personal thing against anyone, but seabreeze and the National Body must be TOTALLY independent and isolated from each other (and be seen to be independent).

I shudder to think what would have happened a couple of years ago if the ones controlling the National Body and some of their backroom deals that were going on were also controlling the forum with some heated threads that were occurring.

Thanks mate. While I definitely intend to catch up with and be a part of the misfits, landyachting has had to take a back seat to a demanding career, 2 sons at sporting age, a large back yard and what's left of a social life.

I can see there are others on here who, I think, would be far more eligible to the role than I am.

I think all of your nominations are excellent candidates, can you please advise if your interested Chook2, Arjay, Andy B and Hiko? I'm glad that Lachlan has already indicated his interest.

OK! Guys, Listen to what the man is saying. You have to listen to what is being said/Read to comprehend. The man is saying that he wants a break and would pass the job along to another contender. I am not saying we are Putting Upon him but if one begins top feel they are being PUT on then the job at hand becomes tedious and a Task.. These are reasons I will not get involved in Club Life these days, not even VVF. It may well be my own fault for getting too heavily involved but in the end members started leaning heavily on me and then I walked away.

We don't need to do that to any Active Members and in fact we should be putting ourselves out there to assist where we can. Organizing can be a a task in itself and help can make all the difference.. Bleeding Yanks and POMs have it easy as they Choose to Hide in the Northern Hemisphere.

Geez I'm flattered that I was even considered.

But no.
I'm only a new boy on the block. (It's just 12 months here)
There are many more worthy candidates than I.

I am quite happy for any of those mentioned to take it on.

Not an easy job though so I guess it is for whoever puts their hand up.

Well I reckon that lachlan3556 has become the obvious choice and ticks all the boxes in my view.

1. Has accepted the nomination.
2. Seems sensible and level headed.
3. Been on the forum a while and seems to knows what's going on.
4. Is independent from the National Body.

Agreed, Bazl has also declined the offer at this stage. I have sent a PM to Laurie asking him to perform the operation.

I assume Laurie must be taking a well earnt holiday as he still hasn't responded to my PM. I think in the meantime we can still consider Lachlan to be our admin.

Lachlan, if you want any admin actions taken prior to getting admin rights, just send me a PM and I'll do it for you.

Excellent thanks Laurie.

Congrats Lachlan, as I said before I think you'll perform this role really well.

Just to let everyone know I will retain admin rights to help Lachlan out, but he is definitely the elected Admin for this section and I won't take any actions without his stamp of approval.

Thanks so much to Hillsy for the last two, or was it three years and welcome to Lachy.

I am sure this forum will run as smooth as the surface of Lake Lefroy or would "silk" be a better analogy.
