I have a Pacific Magic which was designed by Paul Day (Landyacht on here). It has what is now considered the old fashioned style of steering and you can see the plans for it here:

These days most people perfer "layover steering". I think I've got some plans for it on paper so if someone hasn't answered this before I get home from work tonight, I'll scan them and post it for you.

Otherwise you could look at the Lefroy mini constuction in this thread, which has a whole new steering design.

Fantastic to hear from somebody new that wants to build, not just buy a Landyacht.
The Lefroy mini is a simple design that probably had 15 prototypes of various parts.

It would be the simplest and cheapest yacht Ive made so far. If you have any questions, we can answer,discuss straight away and if you are doing any modifications you can discuss first ,as you may not be the first to think of them.
I think , having built one you will love it on the European beaches.
I do dream of seeing a photo of one sailing at De Panne!.
you have an advantage over us in that the Danish Buggy wheels that you get over there with the 20mm axles are the perfect wheel for a mini.

was invited to sail STANDART at the World Championships in 1998.
Brilliant place ,beautiful beach, lovely people. great landyacht.
I would have a STANDART tommorow if it was a sensible yacht for Lake Lefroy.
We lived in a lovely house on Visserslaan, next to our good friends the Pascal and Ingrid Demusyere-De clerq.
I know that the South Australians will disagree but in Belgium I tasted the second best beer in the world, AND the best Chocolate milk!
Thier son Bastijn is here in Kalgoorlie workng for me at the moment!.
The welding on the LM has been designed to bebasic and simple welds .
many of the people who have or are still buildng them are making thier first or second welding project

havent tried that one. The witbeer in Depanne was pretty darn good, But I have to say the Beer in Cuzco, Peru was just amazing

The yellow yacht is built to the FISLY PROMO spec as much as possible. we are unable to obtain the sizes of steel or Aluminium tubing in the FISY specs.
the performance would be equivalent to racing in mid-fleet in a European Promo race.
construction is much the same, but uses much more expensive tubing.
We are able to get some as recycled free stuff but I think you would have to buy.
If you went to a PROMO I would get in touch with the relevant FISLY class association and copy a SeagullPROMO.
The idea of the MINI isthat it can be used on much smaller and poorer quality sailing venues due to its size and weight
