what size and weight yacht are you planning and more importantly what is the surface you will be sailing on.
a good hard sand,or salt 4.5 should be plenty in a good breeze lightly softer sand or lots of tacking maybe go to 5.5, weve done 8.75 m unstayed on a 3 seater

Sounds about the same size as Jesses landyacht (2.8 LOA by 1.5 wide).
As single seat fun/stunt yachts we`ve found the 6m sail our favorite in Mackay.
See ... google video:Jesses landyacht

Try the "buy & sell" on seabreeze for a start, or try ebay ... i bought 2 sailboard masts for $50 for both, normally quite a few sailboard sails on there also,
Failing that your local paper......

most of us are either recycling windsurfing gear with the mast andwishbone complete or cutting down windsurfer sails /yacht sails to suit. there are plenty out there . The quennslanders seem to have awealth of the stuff. Tip recycling depots are very popular, also the trading posts and sites like seabreeze. if you are starting to build the chassis before you have a rig make sure you can fit a 60mm diameter mast into your step( im assuming a free standing rig)
