Hi guys, after becoming a land sailor for coming up 2 years, the blokart scene in the uk is very busy which is great.. Get to race most weekends at weston or the BLSA series if you want.. all good! BUT I have the overwhelming feeling for a bigger yacht, apparently class 5 is in demise in the uk so may get a deal somewhere ? I've had a go on a standart & it was Fab! but do I look for one of those or a class 5? I'll allways race the blowy & The big kart will be for Kicks.
So which is quicker? I love the class 5 look & the handymanship that goes into some but also love the enclosed body of the standart.. arrrghh?

Class V will either be an older one which may not have the performance, or a new one which will have the performance right now, but possibly be dated in a year or two. The Standart, being a well regulated one design will maintain it's performance relative to other Standarts for the foreseeable future.
You mention Weston, why not pop down to Brean and have a chat with the club there. The British Federation of Sand and Landyacht Clubs has a good website www.bfslyc.org.uk. I am sure they will offer sound advice. Might not be the best time of year right now, but there is plenty going on (busy venues)
