just letting everyone know about the kite festival on at the end of this month, the last weekend, it's going to be held at semaphore jetty and near by beach from noon until 5 each day,, i had hoped to get some class 5 land yachts to put on display, little did i know how difficult that would be,, it seems that a golden chance to promote the sport and clubs is going begging, i have mine to display and perhaps a blokart also, a bit perthetic really but i'll work with what i have seening that no club members are interested in promoting the sport,,,,anyway i hope to be there both days from noon until 5.00........

Good on you bb, go for it.

You might just be surprised how much interest your yacht will generate

a golden opertunity to promote land sailing in this state (South Australia) went begging once again on the weekend of the 26th and 27th of march at the Adelaide International Kite Festival which was held at Semaphore jetty and beach area,, i had tried and tried to get as many land yachts as i could to display i even had my son tee'd up to hand out an information sheet that i had done on the computer all about land sailing and land sailing here in SA (that bit only too a few lines),,but unfortunatlyit seems that it was going to be "all to hard" for anyone to be apart of what was a great weekend with a good size crowd on both days coming to see what was on offer with the kites,,, i don't know why i bother,,, i certainly won't bother again thats for dam sure

That appears to be a major problem with land sailing, lack of interest by clubs and that unmentionable assoc. but good try beachballs at least you can rest at night as you tried, and i agree with you 100%

Sorry to hear that BB but you gave it your best shot that is all you can do, Maybe something could be published it events of what the ALYC program is and when they are sailing.
I think it is time that we all pulled together for the benefit of the continuation of our sport.
The Sandgropers use this site and I think it has had positive effects for our club in letting people people know more about our sport.
Cheers

well yes i tried, and i guess i'll try again as i think it's worth the effort to get noticed,, as for the ALYC using this forum to advertise it's meeting and such well all i can say to that is don't hold your breath as it has been my experience in conversations that i have had before i became a (leper in certain eyes) that this site isn't held in very high reguard

OK! BB,
Life is full of disappointments, that is one thing as sure as Death and Tax's.. You do your best and Know with in yourself that you have done your best. Land Yachting from what I am gathering with a few exceptions if a sport where a lot of us just do our own thing and occasionally we bump into a like minded Yachter and have a little fun then drift off to do our own thing. When I built my Rig's for instance I knew I would be sailing by myself so I didn't stick to the design rules as all I was interested in is Milking as much fun as possible out of it. I keep hearing of people that have LY's about but never see them. So What.
I get a Lot of info from these pages as do a Global Motley Crew, whom I believe think a lot like me and we all seem to like the contact and Banter. So what if people do not hold us in High Esteem. Have you ever heard the expression "Build it and they will come"? Earth has a Human population of around 7 Billion of us. So we have a few on-board at this site. GREAT! Members will come and Members will go just advertise the sport at the Drop of a Hat and how all and sundry what a bunch of fun we have. If they aren't interested in things other than Kidy Fiddler sites and sexualizing their Daughters then "Poor Fools Them"

its about time the national body showed some guts and got the ALYC on side ,in the past all we heard was the lack of interest by that body, when the management of that body change it was thought that all would change , but alas we still have the same ,lack of substance no forward planning with out these no future.
