Just spoke to a long lost scouting mate who is working at Mercy College (not far from where I live)

They are doing homework to build possibly 5 Lake Lefroy Mini's.
We are arranging a visit to the school in the next couple of days, and the loan of "Dangerous Goods" to make sure they get well and truly infected with the seabreeze virus.

First thing I told Jim to do is put a notice in the school newsletter to scrounge as many masts, booms and sails as possible..

I can see a Lefroy v Esperance Ag v Mercy regatta on the horizon!

Sorry I was showing off. I can't afford textas either.
I pinch them from work.

I haven't used the nylon suspension bushes (that SN gave me, that go into the end of leaf springs on vehicles) in the steering head of a yacht yet.
Anybody out there with some pros and cons of this setup?
I like the idea of a smoother ride, but can I have my cake and eat it too.

you need to used the harder yellow ones, the softer red ones are too soft and lock the steering.
one of our sailors has the red ones and is happy with them. Im sure we can organise some kind of team challenge for October, in fact we have a team challenge tropy from the ancient times called the dowerin cup

Being an "Agricultural College", based project, it will take a lot more time to construct them. Due to only 3 hrs a week workshop time being allocated.
I wouldn't hold my breath, at the rate the planning is going at the moment!! I have a few more hoops to jump through.
You wouldn't believe the document that has to be put in place for this to happen.
I'm not going to let them get on top of me though. I'll play their game.
As for a completion date your guess is as good as mine. The end of the school year is my aim.

Thanks for all the enthusiasm guys.

'ALF yer Luck on that one Chook, If the Gov't is involved it could take you a Life Time to go 6' Backwards. The Red Tape is horrendous and then O H and S stick their Bibs in. What with that and Insurance you will be lucky if you can get a project off the ground let alone sail. I am surprised that Sporting venues can exist. I can't go near the Air Field now with out Some Petty Bureaucratic Tit telling me to "Bugger Off".
