I've been told I have to lubricate the mast to allow the sail to slide from side to side. Does anyone know if WD40 or RP7 can be used or is a special libricant required. (And no I'm not using KY Gel!!)

STOP STOP dont put anything on your mast yet!.
I f the mast hasnt been anodized then work it down with wet and dry to 1500 grit. then use electrical silicon spray to stop reanodizing. . always store your mast and sail indoors of course . Im assuming your washed and dried it as soon as you got home to stop corrosion

Hill, not sure about spraying on your mast. Sailing, we spray it in mast pocket and in mast track, that's about all we do.
Fortunately for windsurfing our masts are coated, either Ali or carbon fibre.
I do know it makes a hell of a difference when derigging at end of the session getting the mast out. Need to keep it away from the boom clamp area as this isn't the best place to have it, so its used sparingly.

Cheers Mineral1. Now I think about it, they did say spray it on the mast the first few times I use it only, so that it evenutally gets impregnated in the sail pocket, so that sounds like they are trying to achieve what you are doing.
