I snuck into balcatta depot again today when the wife wasnt looking, and came out with 2 masts and 4 more sails,
only had a good look at 1 sail so far- it has some tears in the bottom panel but could be patched without too much hassle.
one mast is a one piece in very good nick- and the other is a 2 piece gaastra, but it looks like the previous owner stuffed 1 half inside the other and they are well and truly stuck.
I will have to hide the masts when I see paul next as I have learnt that when you find masts you dont let them go in a hurry, but my pile of sails will need to be unrolled and sorted out soon as its growing a bit unwieldy.
(and I have to admit- I have no idea whats in the pile

)
I plan on keeping a couple of sizes of standard windsurfer sails that are in good nick to try out on the oval as an experiment to see how they compare against the recut sails that paul put together for us- the grass surface practically stops the recut sails but from what I have been able to pick up on the net standard sails should have a bit more low down grunt-(possibly better for grass surfaces) but less top speed than recut sails.
