I snuck into balcatta depot again today when the wife wasnt looking, and came out with 2 masts and 4 more sails,

only had a good look at 1 sail so far- it has some tears in the bottom panel but could be patched without too much hassle.

one mast is a one piece in very good nick- and the other is a 2 piece gaastra, but it looks like the previous owner stuffed 1 half inside the other and they are well and truly stuck.

I will have to hide the masts when I see paul next as I have learnt that when you find masts you dont let them go in a hurry, but my pile of sails will need to be unrolled and sorted out soon as its growing a bit unwieldy.
(and I have to admit- I have no idea whats in the pile)

I plan on keeping a couple of sizes of standard windsurfer sails that are in good nick to try out on the oval as an experiment to see how they compare against the recut sails that paul put together for us- the grass surface practically stops the recut sails but from what I have been able to pick up on the net standard sails should have a bit more low down grunt-(possibly better for grass surfaces) but less top speed than recut sails.

If you have any bits to clear out I will be passing through your shed early on monday morning Im sure Anna will be happy to see old stuff dissapearing , cant stay long as Im doing emergency runs for the daughters. hide the masts, they make great trade goods, Ive got a few at the mo. if you get some lube into the stuck ones then push from the other end?

Make an adaptor to go from a garden hose onto the end of the mast (you'll need some different diameters of hose, some hose clamps, possibly some plastic plumbing bits). Turn the tap on full, give it some whacks with a rubber hammer all around the outside of the mast, and you should see the inside bit pop out

Has worked for me in the past. Just remember to pull out the plastic bung on the end that you attach the hose to.

Possibly also wrapped in some rags soaked in warm/hot water on the outside as a last resort at the same time?

if nebbian's and hiko's methods dont work for me- I might have to resort to my old favourite standby of using scientific application of pyro-chemically released force

since it sounds like you are driving straight from kal, scrap the scones and tea, how about lotsa coffee and decent feed for breakfast instead!

big lumps of bacon, couple of eggs, pile of toast etc?
