We managed to get out to lake lefroy for new years eve. the lake was simply superb.
the really dry smooth stuff started obout 1km out from the clubhouse till about 5kms out.
the wind started at 4.00pm and was just nice till about 15 mins before sunset , when it kicked up a notch into a nice 20knts until well into the night,
the girls all had a great sail, with 2 new personal best speeds,
charlotte(8) jumped her PB from 24kph up to 36.75kph

.
and miranda (16) leaped from 72kph up to a new PB of 84.1kph

witha 10sec run of 81.4kph..

I jumped in one of the kids yachts, reefed to 2.5m and only managed to match Miranda with her 3.6m sail.
after a cool night for camping the wind was still blowing so we sailed from 7am through till lunch before we were all sailed out. best speeds for the day were a mere 66.1kph

the weekend proved that you just have to be out there and rigged if you want to sail. back home the weather was hot with light winds over both days, almost like another climate zone, but only 100kms away
